Category Heading Feature of StudioPress

Tim Johnson uses Studio Press

I had heard alot about Studio Press over the last 2 years but had never really understood the appeal to Studio Press and the Genisis frame systyem until my friend Bradley started waxing on about it. With the pro package you have unlimited download. Not to mention that Studio Press is diligent in keeping up with updates.

My most recent discovery of WordPress theme StudioPress involves utilizing the Category Description on the Category page that we are supposed to fill out for seo. Not many themes utilize this beyond what WordPress defaults to. Which always struck me as a bit short sighted. When I shared this with some colleagues I was surprised by who didn’t know about it.

So to see what I am talking about check out: lagunaheightscoop.info/category/laguna-heights-hoa-board. A publication designer like myself can appreciate little nuggets like this.

So to start with go to Post >>> Category >>> Select or create a category >>>click edit. Below the usual Category stuff is where you will find :
Genesis Archive Options
Display Title/Description
Display Category title at the top of archive pages?
Display Category description at the top of archive pages
This is where many of the cool Genisis tools reside.

So once the Title and Description boxes are checked the you will have an intro text block intro ready to be styled. The css rules for this module is under the “header” section in the style.php in your child theme (remember try not to touch the Genisis files)

Easy Breezy.
