Fake Chinese Rubber Plant
Yes that’s right. Fake Chinese Rubber Plant is the name of this blog for “W. M. Keck” Professor of English at Pomona College, Kevin J. H. Dettmar is. “He’s convinced there’s an awful lot of unnecessary hand-wringing about the loss of “authenticity” and “sincerity” in contemporary chatter. He’d like it to stop.”
Kevin already had a wordpress site set up in a free template called Press Play”. I was impressed with the theme because it was set up for multiple sidebars, (i wish WordPress core would offer). But nothing had been done really to it. However Kevin is posting every day at 5am!. That is pretty good to start with complared to many clients who are newbies to blogging. And being professor, Kevin was great and understood the process and gave clear feedback.
So long story short since We had good bones to begin with so designing the site and trying to understand fcrp was forefront. There also a lot of archived content that was not apparent and he was posting in “blog” style where one article follows another. This resulted in the site appearing flat and lacked clear paths to lower down content. Images were being used but not on the archive/category pages where one would browse for articles.
The above gallery is a “mood board” we developed for branding the site.

This past year, Wordpress is appearing to be more and more synonymous with "websites". Wordpress has made development so much easier that we can actually think of passing sites off to the client after completion with out fear of calamity.
